What is the Mindful Creator Club About?
A safe space for the intersection between mindfulness and art
A bit of context
Maybe every millennial with a restless mind and a heavy burden of demands has tried some kind of meditation practice, mindfulness, or awareness… even without knowing. It’s just ingrained in our fight for survival.
Well, I certainly have tried meditation a million times, and despite being somewhat successful with Zen meditation sometimes, it is hard for me; it demands energy, discipline, and patience—which is all good if we really want to have a dedicated Zen meditation practice, but for me it was becoming heavy on top of all other daily struggles.
One day I came across Japanese writing like Shodō (The Way of Writing), Shakyō (Copying Sutras) and Nankin fluid painting as ancient ways of mindful practices that use brush, ink, and paper to calm the mind.
From the three above, I practiced Nankin fluid painting for a while and did a short master class with a Brazilian/Japanese illustrator specialized in Nankin. It was a great experience and helped me navigate a tough time in my life. I started to pay attention and research more.
Other than that, I kept journals all throughout my childhood, and I clearly noticed the difference in my life when I was no longer able to keep my practice going. My ability to keep a connection to myself dropped significantly, as did my ability to stay in the present and understand my own mind. It was as if I floated in chaos.
Creating this project
I keep researching and practicing art and writing as a meditation technique, or techniques, so this project is a way to share this journey of mine and all resources I find in my research while I build a little corner for myself online.
I hope that this corner can help you find resources while serving as a portfolio and piece of land on the internet for me. I want to go deeper into methods and ways to use art as a tool to reconquer our minds. I know that this is something humanity have been doing since it acquiered conscioness and we can not allow ourselves to get so far away from it.
I welcome you, and please contact me if you have any suggestions or feedback.
